Assistive Technology

We help people with disability access the assistive technology and equipment they need to live their best life.

What is assistive technology?

Assistive technology can be classified as a device or system that provides practical solutions to everyday life activities. It can increase, maintain, or improve independence and safety by enabling people to perform tasks that they have difficulty with, or were unable to accomplish on their own.

Assistive technology can be low-tech, such as communication boards, or high-tech, such as specialised power wheelchairs. Choosing the right device or system depends on many factors including individual abilities, the environment in which it will be used, and what you want to achieve.

Our Assistive Technology Services

At Therapy Focus some of our therapists are highly knowledgeable and experienced in the prescription of assistive technology. These Assistive Technology Specialists assess the needs of children and adults with disability and recommend assistive technology solutions, providing information and advice about options.

Once suitable assistive technology is identified, our Assistive Technology Team sources items and explore suitable funding options and provide support for funding applications. Our team has extensive experience managing requests for assistive technology and has developed strong relationships with funding bodies and suppliers to ensure successful outcomes for our customers.
