A record number of Australian’s are ditching the big cities in search of a better lifestyle and more affordable housing. Madeline Davey is someone who decided to make the move to Western Australia after completing her degree in Brisbane and working as a Speech Pathologist in central Queensland. She was keen to follow a career in the disability sector and was looking for a place where she could also pursue her hobbies such as rock climbing, mountain biking and hanging out at the beach. Perth ticked all the boxes.

“I did a video interview and got the job. They were so flexible and pushed back my start date by six weeks to give me time to get organised. I drove across the country and didn’t know anyone in Perth. That didn’t matter as I immediately clicked with another Speechie, Larissa and felt part of the family. That was seven years ago now” shares Madeline, Team Leader and Senior Speech Pathologist at Therapy Focus reflecting on her journey.

Madeline is an outdoor enthusiast and makes the most of the flexible working arrangements Therapy Focus offers. She regularly has three-day weekends to do one of her many hobbies and enjoy the lifestyle Perth has to offer, but she hasn’t had to stall her career either.
