Our Aged Care Continence Services
Incontinence is the term used to describe accidental or involuntary loss of urine (urinary incontinence) or bowel motion, faeces or wind (faecal or bowel incontinence). Incontinence can have a significant impact on quality of life and overall wellness.
At Therapy Focus, our Bladder and Bowel Health Team is comprised of qualified healthcare professionals with more than 20 years’ experience in aged and community care. The team provide advice and support for bladder and bowel health issues, helping people overcome or better manage incontinence.
Our aged care continence services are available to people aged 65 years and above, or 50 years and above for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. Services include:
- A home visiting service for eligible customers
- Comprehensive continence assessments, including urine testing and bladder scans
- Management strategies for incontinence, constipation and other bladder and bowel issues
- Incontinence product information and subsidy scheme access
Accessing our services
Home Care Package
Therapy Focus delivers aged care continence services on behalf of Home Care Package providers.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme
Request a referral via the My Aged Care website. Simply search "Therapy Focus" on the Find a Provider page.
Private Purchase
Not eligible for government funding? Want to access extra support? Our services can be purchased privately for a fee.
Continence Advisory Service
It takes great courage to talk about bladder and bowel health issues. Our team is here to listen to your concerns, answer your questions and provide reassurance.
Our Continence Advisory Service offers phone consults with qualified continence clinicians who can provide information and advice about continence-related topics.
The service can be accessed through the Commonwealth Home Support Program. Simply request a referral via the My Aged Care website.
Some of the topics our team can provide advice and support for over the phone include:
- Information about continence issues, including urgency, frequency, constipation, nocturia and pelvic organ prolapse
- Preventative strategies to ensure good bladder and bowel health
- Healthy bladder and bowel habits, including exercises, diet and fluid intake
- Managing the effect of other diseases and conditions on incontinence
- Advice for the selection and use of incontinence aids and products
