A day of fun, inclusivity, and celebration!

On Sunday 3 December, Therapy Focus customers, staff, their families and friends came together at Beaton Park in Dalkeith to celebrate International Day of People with Disability and Therapy Focus’ 25th Anniversary.

The inclusive family-friendly event, known as ‘Sunday Funday’, offered a range of entertainment for people of all ages and abilities, including face painting, craft, reptile encounters, mini-golf, lawn games and hoverball archery. A highlight of the day was ‘Foam Frenzy’, which saw a large area of the lawn covered with foam and enjoyed by young and old alike!

DJ Incredable provided the soundtrack for the day, playing all the hits as part of a silent disco. The in-demand DJ is proving that disability is no barrier to achieving your dreams, playing gigs at nightclubs, festivals and a myriad of private gigs this year alone.

The event was held alongside Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space, providing even more opportunities for accessible fun. The ‘Switches and Senses Tent’ offered a range of switch-operated toys and sensory items for attendees who needed to release some energy, whilst a secluded Chill Out Area offered a quiet space away from all the action for those who needed a break.

As if the day wasn’t exciting enough, a special guest from the North Pole stopped by to meet with delighted attendees, handing out Therapy Focus fidget cubes, bubbles and lollie bags.

Therapy Focus Board members and the Leadership Team volunteered their time to ensure everyone was well-fed, manning the sausage sizzle and handing out tokens for free ice cream, tea and coffee. We thank these staff for their support in ensuring the event ran smoothly.
