CAEP Plus
Therapy Focus currently manages the Community Aids and Equipment Program (CAEP) Plus Grant scheme, supported by the WA Health Department.
What is the CAEP Plus Grant?
The CAEP Plus Assistive Technology (AT) Grant provides individuals with health, disability or aged related functional impairment with funding for essential assistive technology. This is technology that allows someone to participate more independently within their homes and community.
The grant is available to individuals who are eligible for CAEP to fund equipment and assistive technology that isn’t otherwise provided through the CAEP program. This includes grants for those with thermo-regulatory (TD) disorders.
Funding categories
The CAEP Plus grant helps people access additional or specialised equipment that supports daily living, mobility, and community participation. Below are the key categories eligible for funding.
- Community access wheelchairs, scooters, mobility aids or an alternative to the primary mobility device – primary mobility devices for inside the home should be referred to CAEP.
- Specialised car seats and occupant restraints (not vehicle wheelchair restraints)
- Wheelchair hoist and other simple vehicle mounted assistive technology not requiring modification
- Emerging technologies not available through CAEP
- Additional equipment required for shared custody
- Specialised assistive technologies for recreation and leisure
- Assistive Technology for visual impairment
- Air conditioners for thermoregulation impairment
