Our GIVE Program is a charitable program that assists with the purchase of items and activities that promote independence, participation and social inclusion of people living with disability.
To ensure the program is sustainable and achieves its core purpose, a few changes have been made to the way we award funding packages.
We will no longer award funding for the purchase of therapy or therapy groups. With the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), people now have more choice as to how they utilise their therapy budget, and funding can be used to access therapy if it aligns with participant goals.
Phones, tablets and laptops
We will only award funding for phones, tablets and laptops that are to be used for communication or therapeutic purposes. As such, these items now require a support letter from therapist. Funding will be only be provided for the standard/basic model of tablets, laptops and phones as fitting the need identified within the application. If a more advanced model is required, then the application will need to outline rationale as to why.
Other items requiring a support letter
The list of items requiring a support letter has been updated. These are items that need specific features that a therapist has skills in identifying.
If you are awarded a funding package, you can only apply again after 12 months has passed. For example, if you were awarded a funding package in Round 2, 2019 you cannot apply again until Round 2, 2020.
Our top tips for applying to the GIVE Program:
- Clearly explain how the item/activity will promote independence, participation and social inclusion of the Therapy Focus client and their parents/carers
- Provide information about how the item will benefit the Therapy Focus client in relation to their disability/diagnosis.
The GIVE Program is made possible by generous donations from the WA community. The next funding round opens on Monday 5 August. Click here to learn more, donate or apply.
