Physical Education and Disability
Edith Cowan University researchers are exploring what high school Physical Education experiences were like for people with disability.
The goal of this survey is to gain valuable insights from those with firsthand experiences and explore how participants’ experiences may have differed in different physical activity contexts such as extracurricular or community sports.
Who can participate in this study?
Participants must meet the following requirements:
- Identify as having a physical or intellectual disability as per the definition of the Disability Discrimination Act (1992).
- Are 18+ years of age.
- Have the capacity to understand research requirements.
- Have completed lower secondary HPE in a Western Australian educational institution in the last 10 years.
This survey is open to people of all identities.
What are the benefits?
This research is designed to benefit current students with disabilities in Western Australia, West Australian-based lower secondary Physical Education teachers’, the research community, and international/interstate Physical Education teachers. The study may also influence future policy decisions, curriculum planning, teaching practices, and inclusion in HPE.
How do I sign up?
Participants will be asked to complete a survey about their Physical Education experiences.
Before deciding whether you would like to take part, you can ask questions about anything you wish to know more about.
