Therapy Focus’ new charitable gift fund, the Barrows Fund, is now open for applications. The fund assists with the purchase of items, activities and services up to $1000 that promote inclusion, participation and independence of people with disabilities and their families.
The fund was created following the closing of the Barrows Foundation, which was established in 1986 to provide assistance to Australians who have physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The Foundation was endowed from the Estate of Mrs M A L Barrows who had a passionate belief in fairness and equity and spent a lifetime working hard to help those less fortunate than herself.
Late last year the trustees of the Barrows Foundation discharged their duties to Therapy Focus to administer $250,000 in remaining funds to support children and adults with disabilities.
Therapy Focus’ Barrows Fund will assist with the purchase of items that cannot be funded through other funding sources such as the Community Aids and Equipment Program (CAEP). Applications to the fund may be submitted by people with disabilities, their families, carers, teachers and Disability Services Commission Local Area Coordinators and are not restricted to Therapy Focus clients only.
Please note: the Barrows Fund closed in 2016 with all funds administered.
